Women Who Kick Butt: The Two Jens
Every week or so, I want to feature real women who kick butt on the Princeless page. There are a lot of women worthy of this title, so I’m going to start where it seems most natural: The Two Jens!

Jen Kling has been a friend of mine for some time. We met through a friend of a friend and I noticed pretty quickly that Jen would show up places with pretty serious looking bruises. Finally I decided to ask about it and she said “Oh, that’s from the saber match I won.”

Jen was a varsity fencer at UNC and has continued past college to fence competitively and completely destroy any concept I had that I might be good at fencing after two semesters of fencing class.

Only recently have I gotten to know Jen Oldham at all. Jen Oldham runs the Mid-South Fencer’s Club and she does so with style. In fact, thanks to her the Mid-South Fencer’s Club should be appearing at the first signing for the Princeless trade at Ultimate Comics in April (more details to come). In addition to fencing herself, Jen also teaches and organizes several classes for various ages and skill levels of fencers in the Carolinas.
It’s no accident that these two make the list first. They kick butt in a very literal sense.
